EATASA (Equine Assisted Therapy Association of South Africa)
EATASA is an organisation that is involved in Hippotherapy, (educating, informing and advising therapists) in South Africa. Occupational therapists, Physiotherapists and Speach therapists can specialise in Hippotherapy, which is treating with a horse as a modality. Email equinetasa@gmail.com for more information.
Equine Assisted therapy Association runs Hippotherapy courses, the courses are for Occupational, Physio and Speach therapists who would like to specialise in Hippotherapy. They are run mostly from Cape Town and are affiliated to SA Riding for the Disabled. EATASA functions under the SARDA (SA Riding for the Disabled) umbrella. SARDA provides free riding and therapeutic riding for people with disabilities.
In order to specialise in Hippotherapy it is essential that the therapist has had training in Hippotherapy. If you are uncertain if the therapist you are going to for Hippotherapy or therapeutic riding, please contact EATASA, and we can follow up for you to the best of our abillity. We will be posting up on our web site the therapists who have done Hippotherapy training in South Africa with either the American Hippotherapy Association or with EATASA.
The Equine Assisted Therapy Association of SA will be shortly running courses for Horse Proffesionals who are wanting to work with therapists in the Hippotherapy or Therapeutic riding field.
